Taking unconventional materials and giving them new life has been my passion

For years, I've cherished this ASICS jacket, a gem found in a thrift store. It has been my reliable companion for various activities like running, hiking, and everyday errands. Despite not wearing it recently, its last appearance dates back to circa 2021.

While I adore BAGGU bags, I refrained from purchasing a new one for over a year in favor of sustainability. Instead, I decided to transform my beloved jacket into a spacious crossbody bag at the end of 2024.

Utilizing the jacket's kangaroo pocket for the bag's front and incorporating leftover checkered fabric for the interior, I embarked on this creative journey. Although the initial 1" strap proved insufficient during a trip to Disney (spot the 1st time pin!), leading to a mishap with the strap tearing due to the weight of snacks, the improvised solution with safety pins surprisingly added a unique touch.

Recognizing the importance of learning from failures, I'm planning to enhance the bag by upgrading to a sturdier 2" strap for increased durability. Despite its imperfections, the bag's evolution from a cool jacket to an even cooler bag showcases the transformative power of creativity.

The jacket with the orange zipper symbolizes my early attempts at pattern-making, highlighting a significant improvement from its initial rough crafting phase. Embracing the challenges and joys of pattern-making has been an immensely fulfilling and occasionally frustrating journey that I wouldn't trade for anything!
